There are two routes to Þingeyri

There are two ways to Þingeyri:

• Southbound crossing of Dynjandisheiði mountain pass, through the new Dýrafjarðargöng tunnel. (387km)

• Northbound across Steingrímsfjarðarheiði mountain pass to the town of Ísafjörður and south to Þingeyri. (499km)

The Gymnasium

The gymnasium is in the same building as the swimming pool. There you can play Football, Volleyball, Basketball, etc.

Rehearsal room

A gym is in a private space in the gymnasium. It contains running appliances, weights, etc.

Outside the pool there is a playground, a football pitch, a running track and a volleyball court.

In Ísafjörður, we recycle. There is a separate bin for cardboard and plastic and compost, one bin for general waste and there is a station in the swimming pool area for glass. There is a large container by the harbor 2-3 days per week where you can take larger items and garden waste.

Larger events

• The couple's ball is held annually in the autumn at the village hall in Þingeyri.

• Dýrafjarðardagar is a weekend festival for the whole family held in early July.

• Þorrablót, held annually in February by Dýri the Accident Prevention and Rescue Team.

• Hlaupahatid.is running festival is held annually in mid-July. 

• Skidavikan.is sky week is held every year at Easter.
